At the heart of the charming seaside village of Algajola, the family
run Hotel l'Ondine is hidden away in large flower filled gardens, with an enviable position overlooking the bay.
There are 53 rooms in all, scattered throughout the grounds in an unusual design, with the first floor rooms reached
via external stairs and open corridors, making the most of the welcome sea breeze and superb views. Each has an
en-suite shower room with toilet and hairdryer, and either a balcony or terrace with views over the sea, gardens
or the pool. The rooms themselves are simple but comfortable with a television should you ever tire of the scenery
and the hotel also has two rooms that have been specially adapted for disabled access.
The restaurant at the l'Ondine is renowned for its regional specialities and gourmet menus, and whether on the
terrace or in the restaurant itself, the chef and his team can offer a range of meat and fish dishes including
locally caught lobsters.
The third largest resort in the Balagne, Algajola has retained its mediaeval charm and is considerably quieter
than its larger counterparts Calvi and Ile Rousse. Positioned between the stunning, dramatic mountains of the Haute
Balagne, and the clear blue waters and warm golden sand, the village is relatively sleepy for most of the year,
and one can wander the narrow streets and follow the ramparts of the old Castello undisturbed. However, during
July and August the village really comes alive.
The village is perfectly positioned for exploring this beautiful region and whether your interest lies on land
or at sea, the hotel has a range of activities and leisure pursuits on offer to help you get the most from your
stay- you can even hire mountain bikes! Kid will love the beautiful sandy beach which stretches for nearly a mile,
and will spend hours building sand castles and catching the little fish that make their home amongst the rocks.
Adults will love the relaxed atmosphere and café lifestyle. If you want to see a little more of the region,
the hotel can help you with various excusions which range in duration from a couple of hours to a full day trip,
or you can simply while away the time soaking up the sun by the pool.

'We stayed here in a double with a sea view. The room was basic
and rustic but absolutely spotless. You appreciate this sort of accomodation when the temperature is mid 30s. Towels
were changed daily and the view from the room was stunning. Hotel staff were friendly and were helpful with the
language barrier. We did not eat at the hotel as there are plentiful outside restaurants within walking distance.'
