At the foot of Monte Grosso, yet still just a few minutes drive from
the fabulous sandy beach at Calvi, Calenzana is a beautiful, friendly old Balagne village, which has proved to
be one of our most popular locations.
On the first floor of a well maintained building, Chez Thérèse is just 5 minutes from the centre
of the village. The apartment is spacious and comfortable, and has been furnished throughout with style and taste.
There is a living room and dining room as well as a separate kitchen which has been well equipped with all the
modern facilities such as dishwasher. Ideal as a base for two couples, the apartment has two bedrooms each with
double bed, a bathroom with toilet, a separate laundry area with washing machine and a second toilet where the
thoughtful owners have also provided some extra touches such as a backpack should you wish to explore on foot.
Outside there are two terraces; the large main terrace of 36 square metres
with a barbeque, and a smaller 'breakfast' terrace of 12 square metres with garden furniture where you can eat
al fresco if you wish, or enjoy an aperitif before venturing down to the village for dinner or perhaps into Calvi,
with its good choice of restaurants whose terraces line the waters edge. There is also a garden if you simply want
to relax in the shade of the trees.
If you're looking for adventure, the Balagne is the ideal natural environment in which to indulge in all sorts
of outdoor activities such as walking and hiking - the famous GR20 walk actually starts in the village - canyoning,
kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and horseriding. For those who enjoy gentler pursuits, why not spend a day on the
beach or follow the 'Stradi di l'Artigiani' (crafts trail) through the pretty hillside villages where you can stop
at the workshops of various artisans and try some of the local produce.
Calenzana itself is famous for its honey and its cheeses but it is the
smell of freshly baked beignets (doughnuts) wafting through the narrow streets that draws people back day after
day!
