In a semi-rural setting where eucalyptus, palm and olive trees fill the air with
scents of the Mediterranean, Casa Sandrine is a charming 'petite maison de campagne' just a few minutes away from
the historic town of Calvi with its magnificent sweep of golden sand.
Tastefully furnished throughout in a fresh, contemporary style, Casa Sandrine has a comfortable living room which
has been separated from the kitchen with a breakfast bar. The kitchen itself has been well equipped with all the
modern conveniences one would expect such as a full oven and hotplate, microwave, dishwasher, washing mashine and
a kettle. The pale décor and tiled floors help to keep the house cool during the hot summer months, but
air conditioning has also been provided in the main room for your added comfort. There is a separate bedroom with
double bed as well as a sofabed in the living room to allow for extra occupants or more flexible sleeping arrangements
should you need them. There is also a bathroom with a bath and a separate toilet. Outside there is a private terrace
and garden where you can relax on one of the loungers and recharge your batteries with solar power or maybe make
friends with the horse who lives in the field behind the house.
If you fancy a change, Calvi is only a short drive away and here you will find all the attractions of a lively
seaside resort; colourful bars and restaurants lining the port and tucked away amongst the narrow cobbled streets,
a vast shallow sandy beach with all manner of watersports, the dramatic 15th century Genoese Citadel, and even
a little train that runs along the coast.
However, the seaside resorts are only part of Corsica's rich and diverse landscape, and Casa Sandrine is very well
placed for exploring the Fango valley with its natural granite swimming holes, and Bonifato forest where you can
picnic on huge sculptual boulders before taking a dip in the refreshing mountain water. There are a number of marked
walks including the Cirque de Bonifato - the first stage of the famous GR20 walk - where you can wonder at the
contrast of the spiky pink 'needles' and the deep green of the larico pines.
The nearby Domaine de la Figarella is the ideal place to while away a few hours wine-tasting and the wines make
an excellent souvenir. At an altitude of 100-150m, the domaine benefits equally from the mountains and sea breezes
and utises the traditional grapes of the region; Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu and Vermentinu. The red wines are perhaps
the most popular and are aged for a minimum of 3 years. The owner prides himself on a 100% Sciaccarellu which is
particularly good. The white wine has also been featured in the magazine 'Vin de France'.

'My wife and I had a very enjoyable holiday in Corsica in June.
Casa Sandrine was perfect for total freedom and relaxation - large private garden , nice bright house and wonderful
open view across to the mountains. Okay the access road to the house was something akin to a river bed but that
was the only thing which could have been better and that's a relatively trivial caveat. We met Sandrine at the
initial rendezvous and she was a pleasant friendly soul. The Figarella valley was just 25mins away by car and a
great place to walk or relax sitting on stones in the river and paddling one's feet in the water. Calvi was also
dead handy for shopping.'
'Reasonably priced probably due to its proximity to the airport,
but this gave only minimal disturbance, and will not stop us re-booking. The ideal location for a couple who want
access both to the coast and the Bonifatu mountain area as we did. Gorgeous views over the mountains from the large
garden. Air con appreciated during the night.'
