Quietly situated below the charming village of Lumio, Casa Matteu is a spacious modern house, perfectly situated for those looking for a peaceful location, whilst still within easy reach of the sandy beaches dotting the coast, and the bustling resorts of Calvi and Ile Rousse.

Gates open onto the courtyard at the front of the house where a few steps lead up to the front door. The attractive hallway opens onto a large open plan living room where there are two comfortable sofas, satellite television (some English channels), DVD player, music centre and telephone. This room has been tastefully decorated in cool white with warm Mediterranean accent colours and pictures.

The wooden dining table and chairs sits in front of the large sliding patio doors which give access to the terrace, pool and garden beyond. The well equipped kitchen is separated from the dining area by a breakfast bar and boasts fully fitted appliances; full cooker with ceramic hob, integrated dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, cafetiere. The kitchen has separate access to the terrace via the back door. There is also a utility room to house the washing machine and tumble dryer.

There are four bedrooms in all; two with double beds and two with ziplock twin beds which can easily be converted into large double beds. Each bedroom has its own fully fitted shower room and toilet (one has a bath with shower attachment over), and there is also an additional independent toilet. All the bath/shower rooms are fitted with hairdryers. Furnished throughout with style and taste, the large spacious rooms add to the airy, fresh feel of the house, but the thoughtful owners have also added air-conditioning in the main room and the bedrooms for the added comfort of guests.

Outside, there is a terrace and pool overlooking the bay with loungers, a large teak table and chairs and barbecue - perfect for living al fresco. There is a covered area to provide welcome shade from the heat of the mid-day sun, and a large garden below for the kids to run and play.

The Balagne is a very popular region where one can find everything from pretty little villages huddled together on the mountainside to bustling resorts with shops, restaurants and cafes aplenty. The beaches are simply stunning and again one has the choice of shallow gentle waters which are ideal for children, to picturesque rocky coves where you can nearly always find a quiet corner to relax undisturbed. The crafts trail offers the chance to see local artisans at work and there are a whole host of water sports and mountain activities on offer.

Linen is included in the price of the rental.

'This is a very spacious property, well suited to the 7 people staying. Bedrooms and bathrooms are lovely - comfortable and well designed. The main living area and kitchen was also fine for this number, and the outside patio and pool also well designed and well furnished.
