Residence du Rateau Bavoir is a delightful little cluster of apartments
situated on the edge of Calvi, just 200m from the beautiful, gently shelving sandy beach.
There are just 9 single storey apartments in all, which are arranged along two sides of the pool. The mature gardens
provide screening between the apartments and the pool (11m x 6m), and the fragrant oleander bushes are bursting
with colourful flowers throughout the summer.
Each apartment has a vine covered terrace offering dappled shade from the sun, a built-in brick barbecue and a
table and chairs where you can eat al fresco. French doors lead to the main living room where there is a simple
kitchen corner and an open plan living dining room with a roll out sofabed and television. There are two bedrooms;
a double and a twin, a shower room and a separate toilet. There is also one smaller apartment with a double bedroom,
suitable for couples. On site there is a communal washing machine (tokens available from reception, 3€), and the
friendly owner Robert lives onsite to manage the day to day running of the residence.
Calvi and the surrounding area have a lot to offer, making it idea for a first time visit to the island. The main
town is just a short stroll away, and there you will find a many good restaurants and lots of interesting boutiques.
The huge sweep of fine sand stretches for over 5km, and the beach is home to a number of water sports such as sailing,
windsurfing and diving, whilst the mountain backdrop can be explored on foot, horse back or by car. The Citadel
which stands above the town is remarkable and well worth a visit, but there is nothing better that enjoying an
aperitif on the harbour and just watching the world go by!
If you don't want to venture too far, there is a nice little restaurant next to the residence, La Cabanon, where
you can enjoy the true flavours of the Mediterranean; roasted sardines, gigot d'agneau à la ficelle flambé
au capuchin (lamb), moules persillées (mussels), terrine de sanglier (wild boar terrine), gratin d'aubergine
(aubergine gratin) as well as homemade aperitifs and desserts.
Particularly suited to families looking for pleasant, affordable accommodation close to the beach, and all the
facilities Calvi has to offer.
Linen is included in the rental.

Comments from previous guests...
'We have just returned from a lovely holiday staying at the Rateau
bavoir( family with children aged 5 and 6). The chalets were quite comfortable( although could have done with fans
in the bedrooms for hot nights) and the residence was charming. Pool and gardens were delightful, and location
excellent apart from the fact that there is a main road between the residence and the beach (which we could hear
from our chalet, although wasn't too intrusive). The residence was about half booked by French and half by Brits
the week we were there, and all the children played happily together. Really enjoyed the crazy golf ( although
guests pay for it along with the general public). Would really recommend Calvi as a holiday destination; there
can be few places with such a lovely town and beach next to each other, and lots of other attractions nearby( we
particulary enjoyed the "high wire tree walk" and swimming in rock pools up in Bonofatu forest about
half an hours drive away.)'
'We have just returned from a relaxing sun-filled fortnight in
Corsica and have recommended the island to everyone. Like a far more dramatic and scenic Pollensa area of Majorca,
but with 20% of the development. And better food! Le Rateau Bavoir apartments have a fantastic location for a family
self-catering holiday. It's fair to say the apartments themselves are a little worn, but the private palm-shaded
terrace, lovely pool and beautifully maintained gardens more than made up for that. We were rarely inside! The
Euro rate makes eating out expensive, but the supermarket and open-air greengrocers so close made self catering
a pleasure. Pizza place at the campsite next door is lovely, though. The beach is perfect for little ones - as
calm as a millpond and so gently sloping our four year old could go dozens of metres out and be up to his waist.
Water so warm, too! Robert, the owner was cheerful and helpful, and acted immediately when we asked for his help.
Calvi itself is stylish and buzzy and it's an easy walk to the centre. Thoroughly recommended. Thanks for helping
us find such a great place.'
Have just retuned from our amazing overseas holiday and would
like to say thank you to every one at 'DirectCorsica' for their support in helping us find and book accommodation
in Calvi on Corsica. Rateau Bavoir was a great little find. Although the accommodation itself is rather basic it
was clean and really everything we needed. My kids loved the pool and the mini golf. And our host, Robert, was
very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Corsica is truly a well kept secret. It is in a word simply beautiful.
So thank you again for your support and hard work it was greatly appreciated'
Would definetly recommend this resort, particulary the location,
beach is 100m, town is 200m and supermarket 50m! Fantastic beach, mountains are marvellous, town a delight. Would
go ahead, Corsica was beautiful, Calvi beautiful and the accomodation just right. All this even though had changeable
weather. Thanks'
'Back from Calvi today and just had to drop you a line - We had
the most wonderful holiday, we were absolutely delighted! The accommodation was lovely and the little complex was
just ideal for families, all the kids had a great time! We loved the location and how easy it all was with the
beach, town and supermarket nearby. I'm more than happy for you to include my comments on your website. I would
also add how safe the complex was for young children and the large garden area was also great for the kids. Thanks
again for all your help with our booking and arrangments. We will definitely go back to Calvi in the future.'
'Rateau Bavior is ideal for a family holiday, close enough to
everything you need, but still remains very peaceful, beach and town a short walk away, plenty of bars and restaurants
to suit most tastes. This was our third visit to Rateau Bavior, that speaks volumes, however the family who recommended
it have now been seven times!'
'just wanted to send a quick note to say what a wonderful holiday
we had in Corsica and how well all of the holiday arrangements worked out, despite the really early start on the
Sunday morning!!! The house at Lama {La Vieille Maison} was great with incredible views and the owner was very
friendly. We ate out at both of the "Auberge" in the village and used the local swimming pool. The move
to Calvi went well and we quickly realised that the beach at Calvi was the best around. We drove down the coast
to another beach but it wasn't as good. I think that if we were to go to Calvi again we probably could do without
a hire car. Anyway, thanks for a great holiday, we hope to go back soon.'
