Just a short walk from the beautiful village of Speloncato, Villa A Petra
Tufunata is a spacious modern villa, in a peaceful location overlooking the Regino Valley and the Couvent de Santa
Maria di a Pase.
There is a large open plan living room which is perfectly placed to take advantage of the breath-taking views over
the valley to the sea below. French doors lead to the main terrace and pool area. The kitchen has been very well
equipped with all the amenities one would expect of a house of this standard; full oven and hob, fridge-freezer,
washing machine and dishwasher, and is separated from the main living room by an unusual breakfast bar made from
local stones. There is also a separate dining area with huge sliding doors giving access to the large terrace,
which is perfectly placed to take advantage of the lovely views of the surrounding mountains. WiFi internet access
also available.
There are four bedrooms in all; two doubles and two twin rooms. Two of
the bedrooms have en-suite power shower and washbasin, and the main family bathroom is shared by the other two
bedrooms. There are two separate toilets. Three of the bedrooms have french doors giving access direct to the side
terrace whilst the fourth has large sliding doors suitable for the disabled.
Outside, there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the views whilst
you eat al fresco, or enjoy an aperitif before wandering down to the village for a bite to eat. The main terrace
is to the side of the house and here there is a large stone table and an automatic electric awning to provide shade
should you wish. This area is enclosed and separate from the pool area for greater child safety. Should you prefer
a different aspect, there is also a terrace at the front of the house with a further dining table and chairs.
The private pool (6m x 3m) has been fitted with contre-courant jets so
that you can swim against them if you fancy an aerobic workout! Outside of July & August, the pool can be heated
if you wish for a small extra charge - see below for details. The surrounding area has been decked in teak, and
from here one has perhaps one of the best views of the beautiful village of Speloncato - what could be better than
watching the sun slowly sink behind the hills and the tightly packed cluster of houses take on a mellow golden
hue.
A little path runs behind the house which takes you to the village of
Speloncato where you will find a shop, restaurant and bar, and whilst it might feel like you have stepped back
in time, the superb beaches of the Balagne and the lively coastal resort of Ile Rousse are surprisingly close -
just 20-30 minutes by car. The owner can help organise babysitting, excursions and walking itineraries should you
wish. The villa takes its name from the 'Pierced Rock' close to the village where a curious eclipse takes place
twice a year in March/April and September. Locals and visitors gather in the market square at 6pm to watch as the
sun, having already set, shines again through a natural opening in the rock, filling the Place de la Liberation
with light.
