Less than 100m from the picturesque sandy beaches and waterfront restaurants
at Abbartello, Le Palmier is a comfortable two bedroom apartment with a pretty garden in a quiet residential area.
A few steps lead up from the driveway to French doors that open onto
the main living room where there is a dining table and chairs, comfortable double sofabed for flexible sleeping
arrangements and television should you ever tire of living al fresco. A breakfast bar separates the main living
room from the well equipped kitchen where there is a full cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The
hallway leads to two bedrooms; one with double bed and a second spacious bedroom with two single beds and a foldaway
bed - ideal for families. At the end of the hallway is the large modern bathroom with built in shower cubicle,
washing machine, toilet and washbasins.
Le Palmier has been tastefully decorated throughout in a combination
of cool whites and vibrant Mediterranean colours, and the friendly owners are keen to ensure you get the most from
your holiday. A cot and highchair are provided free of charge should you need them.
French doors lead to the tiled terrace where there is a table and chairs
and sea views. A few steps lead down to the garden where there is a second table and chairs and large parasol to
allow for both sun and shade. Fragrant oleander bushes, bursting with colourful flowers throughout the summer,
provide privacy for eating al fresco or simply relaxing.
There are a couple of good restaurants within just a few minutes stroll
of the apartment - ideal for those who want to enjoy a glass or two of the excellent local wines without having
to worry about the car. During the main season (mid June - mid September) there is also a little self service Spar
shop about 500m from the apartment where you can buy bread and other essentials if you don't fancy eating out every
day, and there is a large supermarket in Propriano which is just a 10-15 minute drive away.
The beaches in this area are some of the most picturesque in the Valinco
gulf and here you will find a combination of intimate coves where you can relax undisturbed amongst the rocks and
stretches of golden sand. However, the beaches are only part of the story, and the valinco has a lot more to offer
visitors from the intriguing pre-historic site at Filitosa, to Sartene, the most Corsican of Corsican towns, and
Propriano's bustling waterfront marina where you can sample some of the fresh fish caught that morning whilst watching
the sun set over the bay. The captivating village of Olmeto was once a favourite spot with artists such as Edward
Lear, and it is easy to see why.
All in all, Le Palmier is highly recommended as a good quality inexpensive
beachside base for couples and families alike.
