	In a quiet square just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of this lively town, the Hotel Duc de Padoue - formerly the Hotel de la Poste - is a recently renovated (2009) family run hotel in a building dating back to the middle of the 19th century.
A peaceful haven in the heart of the town, the hotel takes its name from the "Duc de Padoue" (Jean Thomas Arrighi de Casanova) who was a faithful general in Napoleons' army and a native of Corte. Indeed, some of the superior rooms look out over the Place de Padoue where his statue stands. Today, the family offer the same traditional Corsican hospitality, but in a setting which offers all modern comforts in a modern, minimalist style. Perfectly placed to discover this beautiful part of the island. guests at the Hotel Duc de Padoue cannot help but be enchanted by the sublime scenery of central Corsica, walks, river bathing as well as by the simplicity and authenticity of the people. Corte epitomises l'âme Corse (the Corsican Soul), and its charm is concentrated in the old town with its maze of narrow streets. The Citadel, which is a popular subject of postcards, houses a museum is also well worth a visit. Visitors can explore the intriguing town of Corte, the museum of Corsica, the valleys and forest, and of course the old town itself where to this day visitors can still see indications of ancient battles. Just half an hours drive will bring you to the Grotelle parking area which is departure point of walks for the Capitellu and Melu lakes, and the superb beaches of Lozari and Ostriconi are never far - just 35 minutes by car. Most people visiting this area will hire a car to really get the most from their visit, and there is the possibility to park directly in front of the hotel subject to availability or in the Place Padoue (5€ per day). For those who like to explore without the car, the bus route Ajaccio-Corte-Bastia passes just 50m from the hotel and the station is just 15 minutes away on foot. Characterised by its high summits with their abrupt cliffs, its torrents, its deep valleys and its pine and beech forests, it is a territory of freedom for eagles and mouflon sheep. The Natural Regional Park of Corte is very active in the restoration of traditional heritage buildings but also organizes hiking and treks such as the Genoan pathway, the valley of shepherds and the lake of Nino in the Niolu.
