Le Moulin is an old olive mill for sale in one of the most beautiful
regions of Corsica. built in 1878, which before its restoration featured in the children's film 'Grasshopper Island'
written by Joy Whitby and starring Frank Muir, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Charles Hawtrey. Now tastefully converted
into a charming country house, it is an idyllic property in a tranquil setting amongst acres of olive trees and
oaks, perfect for summer rentals or year round living.
The house brims with character with exposed stonework, original beams, floorboards and chestnut doors apparent
throughout. The property is currently used by the owners during the winter and then rented to holidaymakers during
the summer and can provide an established rental income. The land extends to approximately 5 hectares and comprises
three separate buildings; the mill, an old sherpherds Bergerie which has now been converted to provide delightful
summer accommodation for the current owners, and the ruins of another Bergerie.
MILL HOUSE
The mill house is laid out over three levels and is currently arranged
to provide four bedrooms, although the layout is equally conducive to provide five or even six bedrooms. On the
first floor there are two double bedrooms, one of which has a further single room leading off. There is a very
large bedroom on the top floor with a separate sitting area at the top of the stairs which could easily be converted
to another bedroom. The lounge area has a spiral staircase leading up to a gallery. This is kept shut when holidaymakers
are in residence, but could also be used as a library, study or even another bedroom. The former integral barn
has been converted to provide a spacious, well-equipped French-style kitchen with patio doors opening onto a stone
terrace for al fresco dining. Alternatively, at the other side of the house, there is a built-in barbecue and a
large table and chairs, perfect for enjoying the views over the beautiful valley and the distant mountain villages
of Belgodere & Speloncato.
BERGERIE
Within the extensive grounds which are largely covered with olive trees is a smaller property converted from an
old shepherds shelter. This is where the owners live when the Mill house is rented. It is arranged in the style
of a studio with open plan living/dining/sleeping area, kitchen, separate shower room and garden.
 
Le Moulin is situated in the touristic Balagne region of north west Corsica
with its many miles of beautiful sandy beaches, turquoise seas, idyllic countryside of olive groves and vineyards
and unspoilt hilltop villages. From its tranquil setting at the edge of s delightful hamlet where there is also
a restaurants (1km), the mill is also perfectly located to quickly access the local amenities. The rustic nine-hole
golf course is walkable from the grounds through Le Moulin's olive groves, making it an inspired choice for keen
golfers.
The beautiful seaside town of L'Ile Rousse is a mere 10 minute drive away. This delightful resort embraces tourism
but remains an authentic Corsican town with its ancient covered market and lively plane-shaded main square. From
Ile Rousse station you can take the little Trinichellu train to Calvi stopping as often as you like at the pretty
beaches en route. Calvi itself is a cosmopolitan town with a 4 mile long golden bay and by car is a 35 minute drive
from Le Moulin. Heading east, beach wise it is a 10 minute drive to Lozari and its array of watersports or slightly
further to beautiful and unspoilt Ostriconi.
