Built in 1869, the Grand Hotel Mare e Monti has been the Renucci family
home for over a century. Converted into an hotel in 1962, and much updated over recent years, the flair of the
owner's son - a renowned local architect - has helped retain much of the original charm. Inside, the high vaulted
ceilings, ancient murals and terracotta floors add to the ambience, whilst simple stylish bedrooms and modern bathrooms
add a touch of comfort.
The superb mosaic-lined swimming pool, and terraces where one can breakfast or lunch, appear to cling to the hillside
above the village and enjoy lovely views. In spring and summer, the surrounding countryside is alive with vibrant
wild flowers such as poppies and yellow broom, and the scent of the maquis is in the air. In autumn, the orange
hues provide a contrasting background to the inviting blue of the pool.
