Casa Laura is a beautiful family home which has now been renovated to provide a good quality villa for rent in Corsica. A real home from home, the villa offers a delightful mix of old stone typical of the region, and modern touches that combine to form a comfortable, intriguing and unusual property.

One of just a cluster of houses situated between the picturesque village of San Martino di Lota and the Miomo by the sea, Casa Laura is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The terraces and pool afford a superb and diverse panorama from the lush Mountains of Cap Corse to the deep blues and greens of the Mediterranean below.

Inside, the house has been lavished with care and attention by the owners. The ground floor comprises a covered verandah leading to the main entrance with exposed dry stone walls. There is a family living room with flat screen television, dvd and satellite channels (some English channels such as BBC World and CNN), as well as a second living area with large picture windows which the owners use as a reading room. The separate conservatory style dining area is next to the well equipped kitchen and also gives access to the main terrace. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven and hob, microwave, toaster and cafetière. There is also a bathroom on this level with a large Italian style shower and a separate toilet next door, as well as a twin bedroom. All the rooms on the ground floor have access to the terrace, and all are air conditioned except for the kitchen and bathroom.

Stairs lead up to the first floor where there are two further bedrooms leading from the hallway. These two rooms each have a double bed, and one gives access to the balcony with views over the garden to the sea. There is a second bedroom on this level with both a bath and a shower cubicle. There is another separate toilet next to the bathroom. Both bedrooms are air conditioned.

Outside, the large pool (8m x 4m) sits to the side of the house and has superb uninterrupted views over the sea. There is a summer kitchen with barbecue just next to the pool and an outside toilet so there is really no need to leave the pool side during the hot summer days! The summer kitchen is shaded by the Oliviers and has a large barbecue - there is a second barbecue closer to the house also - a double sink and a table to seat eight. The pool is fitted with a gate and automatic lock for child safety and is also heated making Casa Laura a good prospect for those who like to visit early and later in the year. There are four wooden loungers to relax by the pool as well as deckchairs, parasols and side tables for the added comfort of guests.

The Corsican style garden at the edge of the maquis is covers and area of 1500m2 and is intertwined with dry stone paths in the traditional style. It is completely enclosed by walls.

Known as the island within an island, Cap Corse is the 'thumb' of Corsica to the north east of St. Florent. It stretches 40km long by 10km wide and until the Corniche road which circles the Cap was built by Napoleon III in the mid 19th century, Cap Corse was effectively cut off from the rest of the Island, accessible only by sea. The east coast is home to a collection of delightful little villages and fishing ports such as Miomo which is home to a small Genoese Tower on the water front. Miomo beach is a collection of attractive pebbles which are round and flat, and their colour gives the sea a beautiful green/blue tint. The village itself is lively during the summer months and dotted along the tree trunks are always posters for various activities such as treasure hunts, the new DJ in town and even the chance to join in restoring old footpaths and other ways to contribute to the environment. Slightly inland from Miomo, past Casa Laura, San Martino di lota is reputedly one of the prettiest villages on the island. Dotted along the hillside under the verdant awning of the oaks and chestnut trees, the ancient houses gather about the 17th century church. Cap Corse ideal for those who want to experience the Corsica of yester-year, and yet is still close enough to Bastia if you fancy a change of pace.

Linen is included in the price of the rental.
