Algajola is a pretty, ancient fishing village with perhaps one of the most impressive stretches of beach in the Balagne. Steeped in history and full of atmosphere, Algajola is a village full of simple pleasures, and has managed to retain a sense of charm and tranquillity, making it the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful Balagne region.

Set within the walls of the old Citadel, Maison l'Heritage is an authentic village house at the heart of this delightful village. Steps lead up to the entrance hall which opens onto a compact but well equipped kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, two hob rings and a microwave/grill. There is a table and chairs where one can eat, and a separate living room with sofabed giving flexible sleeping arrangements. On this floor is a double bedroom and a shower room with toilet. Steep stairs lead to the attic floor (with low head height) where there is a second bedroom with twin beds and a small en-suite shower room that is home to the washing machine.

Should you tire of exploring the winding streets and passageways, swimming from the rocks or basking on the magnificent sandy beach, the house looks out over a little 'place' where one can sit and watch the world go by, just as the locals do. Nearby, the impressive old castle that sits at the waters edge, provides an amazing backdrop for the red-hued sunsets, and in the summer the Citadel comes alive to the sound of the music festival held in August each year.

There are many good restaurants to enjoy leisurely lunches or dinners, a small supermarket and even a wine tasting shop, but the Trinichellu (little train in Corsican) also stops in the village, providing a useful link to the nearby resorts of Calvi and Ile Rousse.
