At the edge of the little village of Barbaggio, Chez Marie-Claire is
a delightful little two storey house (19th Century) that has been nicely renovated to provide contemporary, well
equipped accommodation.
Access to the apartment is via the terrace, and the French doors open onto the open plan living room which has
been finished in fresh white and cool green. There is a seating area, breakfast table and a well equipped kitchen
area at the rear which features an oven and electric hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing-machine and dishwasher.
A steep and narrow spiral staircase leads up to the first floor where there is a double bedroom and a small shower
room with toilet.
The situation is peaceful and romantic, making it perfect for a couple looking for something close to both the
mountains and the sea. There is a good sized, secluded terrace with lovely views across the valley to Saint Florent
in the distance. Beyond the house is the garden with its superb swimming pool which is shared with Maison Filippi,
next door. The pool is surrounded by flowers and fruit trees, and these two properties taken together are ideal
for a larger party.
The village of Barbaggio is situated just 3km from Patrimonio, often referred to as the wine-growing capital of
Corsica, it is famous for the excellent AOC wines produced here. The dozens of vineyards where you can try the
various winnes are now linked by the Route des Vins, which is signposted throughout the region. The Nebbiu has
a lot to offer from beautiful scenery, to Pisan churches and prehistoric remains, and of course the impressive
city of Bastia where you can take lunch in one of the many restaurants lining the main square, or wander the old
town. However, no trip to the area is complete without a visit to the bustling little port of Saint Florent where
it is de rigueur
to stroll along the marina admiring the yachts of the rich and famous.
