The Villa St. Erasme is a lovely old building next to the Hotel St. Erasme
in Calvi, and just a short stroll from the town and surperb sandy beach. The ground floor comprises two separate
apartments which have been comfortably furnished, and are ideally situated just a short walk from all the facilities
of Calvi. Guests are welcome to use the facilities of the hotel next door (click HERE for details),
which boasts a pool with magnificent views across the sea towards the Revelata Peninsula.
APARTMENT A:
Entrance to apartment A is at the side of the building where there is a nice terrace with table and chairs for
making the most of the lovely views, and shady, Corsican style garden. This apartment is recommended for families
with younger children as it is easy to watch over them. The door opens onto the living room with comfortable seating
and large windows to make the most of the superb sea views. There is also a television. The kitchen is open plan
and well equipped with washing machine and dishwasher. There are two bedrooms; one double bedroom and one twin
bedroom plus an alcove in the living room with bunk beds. The family bathroom has a bath with shower attachment
and toilet. The whitewashed walls and warm, summery accent colours lend the apartment a distinctive Mediterranean
feel.
APARTMENT B:
Larger than apartment A, the entrance to apartment B is via the part covered terrace at the front of the building.
The door opens onto the large open-plan living/dining room where there is comfortable seating, a large wooden dining
table and well equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher. There is also an attractive alcove area with
single day bed/divan for more flexible sleeping arrangements or a 7th occupant. The living room enjoys superb uninterrupted
views over the sea opposite, and the terrace just in front is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or perhaps supper
if you don't want to venture out in the evenings. A television has been provided should you ever tire of the view.
There are two bedrooms; a large bedroom with double bedroom and bunk beds, and a second bedroom with twin beds.
The family bathroom has a bath with shower attachment and toilet. The whitewashed walls and earthy tones lend the
apartment warm, welcoming ambiance.
Calvi is a fantastic place to holiday, particularly if you've never been
to Corsica before. Dominating the town and the beautiful curved bay is the stunning 15th century Genoese Citadel.
This is the oldest part of Calvi and remains very unspoilt with steep paved roads winding between high and impressive
houses.
The lower town is made up of the main street, Boulevard Wilson which
leads up to the war memorial at the foot of the Citadel, and the port which in summer is lined with colourful bars
and restaurants with terraces looking across the bay to the mountains beyond. Food and drinks do tend to be slightly
more expensive here than elsewhere in town, so why not explore the network of narrow cobbled streets between the
two where you'll find a wealth of restaurants and small shops.
The coast south of Calvi is rugged and rocky and often inaccessible.
However you can bathe from the rocks below the citadel and via the campsites along the route d'Ajaccio or if you
prefer, the main beach is just a short walk away. It stretches for 5km and is sandy and shallow all the way - perfect
for children.
Linen is NOT included in the price of the rental but can be hired at
a cost of 10 € per person, per week.
