Sitting just south of the charming little village of Tizzano, the Residence
Les Dunes enjoys easy access to a huge expanse of sand and crystal clear waters, protected by maquis-covered hills.
LES DUNES I
One of just 6 apartments, the door opens onto the spacious open
plan living/dining room which has been furnished with style and taste. From here, sliding patio doors open onto
one of the two terraces with lovely views of the sea and the beach below. There is a separate modern kitchen area
which has been fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, full oven and hob as well as a microwave and a
fridge-freezer. A dining table and chairs are provided, but most people prefer to eat outside and make the most
of the beautiful setting. Ideal for a family or even friends who want to holiday together, there are three bedrooms
and two bath/shower rooms as well as a double sofabed in the living room to allow for extra occupants or more flexible
sleeping arrangements. There are also two toilets.
LES DUNES II
New for 2009, Les Dunes II is a new building comprising six apartments,
just next door to the original residence. Each with one bedroom, guests have the choice of either a ground floor
apartment with terrace surrounded by plants and shrubs, or a first floor apartment with balcony and sea views.
The apartments have been furnished to the highest standard and offer an open plan living room with a modern kitchen
area which has been fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, full oven and hob as well as a microwave and
a fridge-freezer. The living room also boasts a sofabed, flat screen television and WiFi internet access for those
who can't tear themselves away. There is a separate bedroom, and modern shower room and toilet. Outside, the terraces/balconies
all face towards the sea which is only a few metres walk away, and have garden furniture so that you can eat al
fresco.
Tizzano was originally a fishermans village with a little fishing port, a small fortress and vineyards. A haven
for those looking for sports and outdoor activities and eco-tourism, it lies at the end of a road which winds it
way some 15 kilometres from the main road, so the area remains relatively commercially undeveloped. There are two
or 3 good restaurants within walking distance including the TIZZA MARE beach bar, offering lunch and evening meals
with a range of grillades, tapas, salads, dish of the day, crepes in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Other activities include the Santa Pultra ranch who offer horseriding for beginners and more experienced rides
along the beaches and to visit the menhirs, Scuba diving amongst the underwater flora and fauna, boat hire, Walking
and guided tours. Beyond the village is a collection of little coves reached by footpaths and tracks mostly inaccessible
by car, where children can while away the time catching small fish and crabs in the rock pools whilst the adults
relax undisturbed.
For those who like to explore, tucked into the maquis are the ruins of a fifteenth century fort that was used during
World War II by a team of secret agents and Corsican Patriots led by SOE commander Andrew Croft to practice for
attack and defence. There are also many important archaeological sites such as the menhirs (standing stones) at
Cauria and the impressive town of Sartene, known as the most Corsican or Corsican towns.
Linen is not included in the price of the rental, but can be hired for a small extra charge - see below.
