is the popular restaurant Chez Charlot which has staked its claim on the best spot from which to admire the view.
From here, you can see the whole of the Valinco bay, and it's difficult to know whether the view is better during
the day when you can see Propriano and the sailing boats weaving too and fro, or at night with the harbour lights
twinkling in the distance.
At Viggianello, one can experience the best that Corsica has to offer; quiet villages and rolling hills down to
the sea, the mountains are never far away, and just a few minutes drive will bring you the beautiful sandy beaches
of the Valinco where the sparkling blue waters offer a striking contrast to the warm golden yellow of the sand.
Huge granite boulders act as natural dividers, and children will love catching the little fish that make their
home in the resulting rock pools whilst adults will appreciate the relative privacy which means that you can often
find a spot all to yourselves even during the popular summer months.
However, the beaches are only part of the story, and the valinco has a lot more to offer visitors from the intriguing
pre-historic site at Filitosa, to Sartene, the most Corsican of Corsican towns, and Propriano's bustling waterfront
marina where you can sample some of the fresh fish caught that morning whilst watching the sun set over the bay.
The captivating village of Olmeto was once a favourite spot with artists such as Edward Lear, and it is easy to
see why.
