In a large peaceful garden with a superb view over the 15th century Genoese citadel
and the bay of Calvi, Villa Chiosello is a spacious family house, full of character.
The rooms have been decorated in stylish brushed plaster in a variety of warm Mediterranean colours, and been finished
to a high standard, each offering their own individual flavour. One of the best features of the house is the amount
of outside space. The garden covers an area of 3000m2 and there are terraces all around the house so that guests
can make the most of the Corsican sunshine and beautiful sea views. The well equipped kitchen (full oven, microwave,
dishwasher, washing machine) opens onto a covered terrace where there is a table and chairs and a barbeque for
unhurried summer evenings alfresco. Villa Chiosella offers four bedrooms in all; three with double beds and each
with their own ensuite bath/shower rooms. The fourth bedroom has bunk beds, making it ideal for children. Entertainment
facilities include television, video and CD player and WiFi for those who need to keep in touch with the outside
world. |

Outside, the garden takes on the appearance of a meadow in the spring with wild
flowers sprinkled in the grass amongst the ancient olive trees. The large pool (10m x 5m) is surrounded by a wide
terrace where you can relax on the loungers, but if the heat of the midday sun is too strong, there are two pergolas
where you can snooze on the day-bed style mattresses before taking a refreshing dip in the pool, or head down to
the town for an aperitif before dinner.
The house is looked after by a bilingual manager who is on hand in the unlikely event of any problems, and who
can also arrange babysitting if required at an extra cost.
Villa Chiosello is the ideal choice for those who like to feel like they are at the end of the world, but who in
reality have all the amenities of a lively seafront resort within easy reach. The shallow waters of Calvi bay are
a favourite with families, and a 15 minute walk or short drive brings you to the glorious stretch of gold sand
that stretches for nearly 6km. The pleasure port is the bustling heart of the town, and here one can find all manner
of restaurants offering traditional dishes from fresh local produce as well as more familiar favourites.
Dominating the town and the beautiful curved bay is the impressive Genoese Citadel which dates back to the 15th
century. This is the oldest part of Calvi, and if you look closely you can still see the cannonball holes left
by Nelson's army many hundreds of years before. A wander through the alleyways and narrow cobbled streets between
the ancient vertical houses and visitors cannot fail to appreciate the historical ambiance.
Calvi has managed to combine it's historical charm and character with a superb array of sports and activities for
adults and children alike. Water sports include windsurfing, sailing and kite surfing as well as the possibility
to hire jet-skis and boats, whilst the band of parasol pines known as the pinede is home to public tennis courts
and the 'via ferrata' - a network of pathways suspended between the trees. A boat trip is a must as you have never
really seen Corsica until you have seen it from both the land and the sea.
