At the heart of the picturesque village of Erbalunga, and just 50 metres from the sea, stands the beautiful Hotel Castel'Brando. Built in the 19th Century, this magnificent family mansion has been tastefully and sympathetically renovated to provide good quality, authentic accommodation. There are 42 room in all, each with air conditioning, satellite television, direct dial telephone with internet switch, a small fridge, safe box and a fax at your disposal. All the rooms have bath with hairdryer. Guests can choose from a variety of rooms with different outlooks. The double rooms are situated in the 'demeure' (two separate villas in the grounds of the hotel), and have a small terrace. There is also the choice of superior or privilege rooms as well as two rooms suitable for the disabled. CHARM ROOMS These rooms reflect the simple elegance of the hotel. They offer a spacious living room with separate bedroom, dressing area, flat screen television in every room and free wifi access. The rooms have been finished to a high standard, and furnished with antiques in keeping with the age and style of the hotel, effortlessly combining modern comfort and the ambience of the 'Palazzu' (the name for Corsican family mansions). Guests can try a selection of teas, home-made cakes and delicacies in the library or next to the fountain in the shady patio. The Hotel Castel Brando was awarded the Bronze Medal by the French Ministry of Tourism in 1993, and the Silver Medal in 2004. Known as the 'Nid des peintres' (painters nest), Erbalunga has long been a source of inspiration for numerous artists who come here to take advantage of its special setting which is reminiscent of a smaller version of Portofino. The centre of the village is pedestrianised, and the network of narrow streets converge on the small fishing harbour where boats still moor. 'Hi Claire, Just a line to say how much we enjoyed Corsica.Everything was organised to a tee !! Thanks. The coast is almost as dramatic as the interior but the road around Cap Corse is certainly one not to rush on!! Should be better when they finish it!! The Hotel Castel Brando was excellent, but we thought the breakfast a little overpriced for what it was. The village has some good restaurants there, but the best we thought was Les Pieds dans l'eau where the fish was fresh and simply cooked and served,,,brilliant. All in all a wonderful holiday.'
