Situated on the banks of the beautiful River Fango and near to the popular
summer resort of Galeria, Casaloha - Isabelle & Jean-Pierre's chambre d'hote - is the perfect base from which
to explore this stunning area.
The house stands in gardens of 4000m2, each of the four rooms has its own character and style, and an ensuite bathroom,
private balcony or terrace and tea/coffee facilities. KENT has a double bed and balcony, INDIA has a double bed
and terrace, MARCO POLO has two single beds and a balcony, and HAWAII has a king size double bed (160cm) plus single
bed and a terrace. A camp bed can be added to the Hawaii room for a second child if required, at a small extra
charge - see prices below.
Breakfast can be served on the private terrace, or on the large patio leading to the garden where you will be able
to taste Jean-Pierre's homemade jams and marmalade. What a perfect way to start the day.
Known as the Balagne Désert, the west coast between Calvi and Ajaccio is where you can see some of the most
dramatic scenery on the island. A wild mix of maquis, larico pines and red granite peaks, here one can really experience
the best nature has to offer, from the amazing UNESCO protected Calanches de Piana, the pretty rock pools of the
Fango river, to the Cirque de Bonifato forest, you won't be disappointed! However, some of the man-made structures
are equally impressive, and the Genoese tower overlooking the beach at nearby Galeria is just one example
The picturesque harbour town of Calvi is only about 30 minutes away, but most visitors tell us that it is the natural
wonders that bring them to Galeria; boat trips to the Scandola nature reserve - another UNESCO classified site
- where you can sometimes see dolphins, seals and sometimes even whales, swimming side by side with the wild trout
of the Fango river, and the numerous woodland walks which start from the maison Forestiere. For the more active,
Galeria offers a diving centre, sailing, water skiing, boat excursions, canoe-kayaks, tennis and fishing, but no
one will mind if you just want to take it easy on the beach and watch the sun slowing sinking behind the horizon
Good English is spoken at Casaloha, as Isabelle is a teacher at the local secondary school, so you can always be
sure of a warm welcome.
