It's unusual to discover a house that's close to the centre of Calvi and the beach
but at the same time offers a private pool, so Casa Antonia is a great find!
Casa Antonia is a comfortable family house full of character arranged over two levels. The kitchen has been well
equipped with a washing machine, full oven and microwave, and is open plan with the dining room which has been
furnished with good quality traditional wooden furniture including a pétrin which in times gone by would
have been used to hold the chestnut flour - a staple of any Corsican family. Subtle Moroccan influences such as
the feature tiling in the kitchen and set back caches can also be found here and there which add a touch of flavour!
Adjoining the dining area via an archway is the living room with sofa, television, CD player and wireless internet
access for the added convenience of guests. This room also boasts original features such as exposed beams and an
unusual open tread spiral staircase leading up to the master suite (care needed).
There are four bedrooms in total. On the ground floor are two double bedrooms and a single/childs bedroom. The
first double room offers an ornate double bed and antique bedside tables, whilst the walls are adorned with photos
of Corsica in times gone by. The second double room is at the back of the house next to the traditional style bathroom
with small bath and shower attachment over. The single bedroom is located on the other side of the house with access
from the sitting room. The master bedroom with double bed, en-suite shower room and toilet can be found on the
first floor.
Outside, there is a nice raised terrace which is ideal for your coffee and croissants in the morning before heading
out to explore, and a barbecue has also been provided so guests can cook alfresco if you prefer not to venture
out for lunch or dinner. Casa Antonia is located close to all the facilities of Calvi so there no view as such,
but the house does offer a small garden area planted with colourful flowers and trees offering dappled shade, as
well as a private pool (8m x 4m) which can be heated for visitors outside of the main season. Parking is available
and is shared with the owners who live in the house behind Casa Antonia.
The house is looked after by a bilingual manager who is on hand in the unlikely event of any problems, and who
can also arrange babysitting if required at an extra cost. All in all, this house is perfect for those who want
to be able to relax in peaceful surroundings, whilst still just a short stroll from all that Calvi has to offer.
For those who like to get out and about on foot, Casa Antonia is just a short stroll from the nearest shops and
restaurants, whilst the historic centre of Calvi, the beach and the amazing Genoese Citadel which dates back to
the 15th century are only 1km. The warm shallow waters of Calvi bay have made them a firm favourite with families
and the fine golden sand that stretches for miles is always popular with sun worshippers and water sports fans
alike. The pleasure port is the bustling heart of the town, and here one can find all manner of restaurants offering
traditional dishes from fresh local produce as well as more familiar favourites.
