Bella Vista
- 3 bedrooms, sleeps 6 people
Private pool, terrace, garden, television, lovely sea views, beach
nearby, water sports
With superb sea views over Baracci beach and the bay towards Propriano,
Bella Vista is a spacious, comfortable family house, with large private pool and sun terraces.
Designed for comfortable living, the large main living room is bright and airy, with no less than four sets of
sliding patio doors. At one end is the fully equipped kitchen with full oven and hob, microwave, American style
fridge-freezer, washing machine and dishwasher and an island worksurface which separates it from the dining area
which has been furnished with a unique table crafted from polished granite and teak. At the other end is the living
room which again has been furnished with an eye to style and comfort. There are two leather sofas where you can
sit and watch the sun set over the bay, and a television should you ever tire of the view. A corridor from the
main room leads to a separate toilet and family bathroom with bath and shower. There are three bedrooms in all
- two with standard double beds and master bedroom with king-size bed, and all of them boasting plenty of built
in cupboard space and beautiful wooden floors. Two of the bedrooms also have large sliding doors giving direct
access to the terrace and pool, and sea views through the surrounding olive trees.
Outside, guests have private access to the property which is not overlooked. There is a driveway and space to park
two or three cars. The large pool measures 9.25 x 4.25m and has contra current jets for the more energetic who
may want to swim lengths or even indulge in a spot of aqua aerobics! Access to the pool is via roman steps which
make it ideal for children as they can sit and play without getting out of their depth. There are wooden decked
terraces on two sides of the house and a superb panoramic view framed by ancient olive trees and overlooking the
bay. Beyond the pool is a small area of garden.
Designed and built from scratch by a local craftsman, Bella Vista makes the most of its natural advantages and
uses solar power as well as traditional methods. The house has been very well insulated so it is fresh and cool
during the summer, and warm during the winter, making it equally suitable for those who may like to visit out of
season. There is a local artisanale boulangerie just a few minutes away where you can buy traditional hand baked
breads and sometimes croissants and pastries, as well as a little shop for the essentials. During the summer, takeaway
pizzas can be made to order and cooked in a traditional outdoor pizza oven - delicious!
The Plage de Baracci and the thermal baths of the same name are just a short drive away, but the stunning beaches
of Campomoro, Cappiciolo and even Porto Pollo are all within easy reach of Bella Vista. Not to be missed is an
evening at the Auberge San Ghjuvani. During the summer, they often host 'Corsican Nights' where you will be served
several copious portions of traditional Corsica fayre such as free-range veal, snails and cannelloni stuffed with
Brocciu (a creamy sheep's cheese with a very distinctive flavour) accompanied by A Capella singing.
The beaches in this area are glorious, from the shallow gentle waters of Campomoro which are ideal for children,
to picturesque rocky coves where huge granite boulders act as natural dividers, and children will love catching
the little fish that make their home in the resulting rock pools. However, the Valinco has a lot more to offer
visitors than just beautiful beaches. For the more adventurous, there are a whole host of water sports and mountain
activities on offer from diving, sailing and boat trips to horse-riding and even parachuting! The picturesque peaks
of Les Aiguilles de Bavella (Bavella Needles) are an awe-inspiring area of granite spikes rising high above the
ground. A walker's paradise, Bavella is worth a visit just for the scenery and keen photographers will not be disappointed!
For those who prefer to take it easy, Propriano's bustling waterfront marina is the ideal place to enjoy refreshing
drink in one of the many cafes lining the harbour, or sample some of the fresh fish caught that morning.
Linen is included in the price of the rental.
