There is always something going on in Calenzana, and we highly recommend
it to people who want to experience the real Corsica.
It is worth wandering around the upper streets to gain a true feeling
of the village and if you follow the road past the school, very soon you are in wild countryside, face to face
with Monte Grosso (1938 m) (see sunset pic below - the village square in the evening - Ann's apartment top left
on the main building.) Continue up until you reach an old olive mill where you can bathe in clear pools (very cold
until high summer as the water rushes straight down from the mountains!).
Calenzana is famous for its honey and its cheeses. The local supermarket stocks a good supply of local produce,
but for 'charcuterie' and cakes, liqueurs, sweets, wander up to 'Atelier du Village' in the Place Commune behind
the 'Hotel de Ville' (signposted from the square).
Linen is included in the price of the rental.

''Well, what can we say! Back in cold and rainy London, it's
like autumn here.... We had a fabulous time in Calenzana - Ann's flat was spacious, comfortable and welcoming.
And it had a washing machine!! The views were wonderful - amazing how much time you can spend 'hanging' out of
the window!! It was lovely to be woken up to the sound of bells - 8am is quite a decent time! Thanks to Ann's recommendations
we visited some lovely beaches and had a wonderful meal at the 'Pain du Sucre' - not cheap, but they trusted us
enough to let us go and pay the next day (no cards accepted).
We will definitely be back to do some serious walking. Thanks again to Ann for her hospitality. P.S. This was our
honeymoon - we are getting married 20th July and hope you will upload a picture!'
'Just a short email now that we are back in the UK, to say sincere
thanks for making our holiday so enjoyable. This in turn contributed to one of the most relaxing holidays I have
taken in years. The time slowing down on Corsica is rivalled only by a slow paddle down an English canal stopping
at every pub. Chez Ann was a delight and prepared to the most homely of standards. The bells I never did work out,
the throng baring no connection to time or moment! This is no way undermined our enjoyment however and we clocked
up 2000 kilometres worth of sightseeing and adventure. Arriving to find the island on Fire was interesting, as
was Ajaccio when we arrived there! Never did find a particular vineyard, Patrimonio but will seek it out again
and hope to do business with you again to satisfy this particular thirst! Thanks again, wishing you both well.'
