The rooms each have their own private shower room and toilet, central
heating and internet access, and all of them benefit from double glazed windows and soundproofing between the floors.
Guests are offered a copious 'classique' breakfast included in the cost
of the room, but for a small supplement Corsican specialities such as charcuterie, cheeses and patisseries can
also be provided. Breakfast can be taken either in the large communal salon, or on the terrace bordered by pines
and lime trees - either way guests have the choice of an intimate meal together, or the opportunity to chat with
other guests and their hosts about their experiences of Corsica, and exchange ideas of things to see and do.

A haven for walkers, Casa Alta is ideally situated on the junction between
the GR20 north and GR20 south walks, but is also suited to those who merely want to enjoy the peace and tranquility
at the heart of the Corsican mountains. Vizzavona is the departure point for numerous walks for all levels such
as the celebrated 'Cascade des Anglais' and the 'Voile de la Mariée' at Bocognano, but there are walks suitable
for all ages and abilities from woodland walks through the pines or longer hikes, and all the trails are very well
marked. Visitors to this beautiful area can also indulge in a refreshing dip in the nearby rivers and rock pools
- perfect after a long walk or a day spent basking on the rocks in the heat of the sun.
The little hamlet of Vizzavona is only a few hundred metres from Casa
Alta, and here you can find several restaurants as well as a local grocery shop. There is also a station so guests
can easily explore as far as Ajaccio, Bastia and Calvi by train, or on foot following the famous GR20 walk across
the island, discovering villages, the forest and the unforgettable scent of the maquis along the way.

Comments from previous guests...
'Casa Alta was also very nice - the owners are extremely nice
people and very helpful. They helped us finding the best places to go, the best routes and make very tasty jams
themselves. The house was really cosy, beautiful and located in a great forest. The village of Vizzavona is a perfect
starting point for great walks. We loved walking in the mountains: I would recommend especially the walk in the
Monte Renoso and Lake Bastiani; and the walk in the Pozzi (from station de ski du Val d'Ese) - both were relatively
easy, with wonderful views, and away from the millions of tourists (who tend to concentrate heavily on the Restonica
Valley; the walk to Lac de Melo and Capitello was really crowded with people). For those who stay at the casa alta,
the restaurant not to miss is Monte d'Oro, superb, friendly staff and great food. Overall we had a great holiday
and would like to thank you very much for all your help.'
