The high ceiling and wide staircase leading from the entrance exude an
air of faded grandeur. From the landing an original doorway opens onto the hallway which boasts original terracotta
tiles which help to keep the apartment cool even during the heat of the summer. There is a large open plan living
room with three large sets of original windows offering double aspect views. The apartment is flooded with sunlight
in the mornings and for your added comfort, air conditioning has been added in the living room and the larger of
the two bedrooms. There is one bedroom with a double bed and the other has two single beds. There is a small separate
kitchen which has been equipped with a fridge, electric hot plates, a microwave and a washing machine. The shower
room has also been re-fitted and there is a separate toilet.
Apartment Wilson has been simply, but tastefully furnished and offers
a lovely blend of original features and contemporary décor. The fresh whitewashed walls provide a stunning
frame for the views of the blue skies and the ochre hues of the Citadel seen through the windows.
Lined with impressive old buildings, shops and restaurants, it is easy
to see why Boulevard Wilson is such a sought after area. There is a good choice of bars and restaurants nearby
(some noise is possible in the evenings) and the pleasure port is within easy walking distance - the perfect place
to enjoy an aperitif whilst you watch the sun setting over the bay. The little snack bar next door organises a
soiree each friday evening where people can gather and socialise, so what better way to meet the locals! The network
of narrow cobbled streets between Boulevard Wilson and the port are home to an intriguing mix of boutiques and
souvenir shops.
One cannot talk about Calvi without mentioning the magnificent sandy
beach that stretches for more than 5km. Home to all sorts of watersports; kite surfing, sailing, windsurfing and
jet skiing for the more adventurous, there is still plenty of room if all you want to do is relax and soak up the
sun in peace. In the pinede backing the beach, you can find a number of excellent little restaurants looking back
across the bay towards the citadel - a view not to be missed.
Linen is included in the cost of the rental.

Comments from previous guests...
Last summer (2007) myself, my wife, Livvy (13) and George (8)
spent a lovely week in this really convenient apartment situated beneath the towers of the citadel at the top end
of Calvi. The apartment is a traditional French style apartment with tall, shuttered windows and beautiful wooden
doors. Situated on the first floor, up two flights of stairs leading off a large hall accessed through double doors
straight off the pavement next to the Cafe Rex. Simple but tastefully decorated this for us was a real find, haracterful
and reasonably priced. It is close to everything the town has to offer. Our daughter Livvy would go out by herself
in the mornings to buy the croissants from the local Patisserie and practice her French. We could walk out during
the day to the lovely shops and at night to the excellent restaurants. We especially liked visiting the port with
it's fantastic collection of moored yachts and sitting at a restaurant table and watching the promenaders! One
of these restaurants specialising in mussels, served up in huge pots with pommes frites on the side was a real
favourite with the kids. The rich and famous obviously like Calvi but they seem to keep a low profile as we found
the town friendly and cosmopolitan and the prices much better than we expected, certainly cheaper than England.
We could walk to the Beach (10 mins) which we found to be clean and safe for kids with beautiful views looking
back towards the Citadel. All in all the convenience of the Apartment Wilson, the simple but pretty interior plus
the lovely view and are it's biggest selling points.
