directCorsica is run by Iain and Janet Rankin, and Claire Hall. The Rankins first went to Corsica in 1970 and know the island well. They were the founders of the tour operator Corsican Places, and when they sold their business in 2000, they knew it was not the end of their 30 year love affair with the island. Claire Hall shares their passion and enthusiasm for Corsica, and worked for Corsican Places for more than 10 years before leaving to join Janet & Iain in their new venture. Making use of their considerable knowledge
and experience of Corsica, together they have launched this new website to help people to book accommodation direct
at owners' prices, and provide a useful resource to anyone thinking of taking their holiday on this beautiful island.
So how does it work... When we set up the website, we realised there were a number of owners who wanted to let their properties direct to clients, but couldn't because they didn't speak English. Here at directCorsica, as part of the fee the owners pay to advertise on our site, we act as a facilitator, translating the request from English to French for the owner, and the reply from French to English for the clients. We also offer a payment service for some properties (see specific properties pages for details) so that English clients can pay for their holiday in sterling to avoid the charges that would normally be levied for a euro payment through a UK bank. We will try to answer any queries you have and give you any extra information you need to make your choice, however once the booking is made, the contract is established directly between the owner and the client. We have regular personal contact with all the property owners, most of whom we have worked with for many years. For the peace of mind of guests using our website to book their accommodation, we also visit the properties to make sure that the descriptions and photographs provided to us by the owners represent the property honestly and accurately.
